Upcoming Shows, New Artwork, and the Return of the Plaques!

Hi Everybody! I wanted to thank everyone who has visited my booth recently at Apple Blossom, Flower & Jazz, and the Maryland Faerie Festival!

It has been a very wet spring, and although I am accustomed to setting up and vending in the rain, I always worry that customers will be scared away by the ominous weather forecast. The Faerie Festival in particular was plagued by threats of thunderstorms all weekend long, and it did close early on Sunday… but it was my best Faerie Fest yet! I am so grateful to the folks who brave the elements in order to support us independent artists. <3

This Saturday, I will be setting up (indoors!) in my usual stall at the Carroll County Farmer’s Market, located at the Ag Center in Westminster, MD.  This Saturday is “Quilt Day”, and alas, I have no quilts to display… but I will have colorful cat art and brand new Limited Edition art plaques!

If you’ve been following my art for awhile, you might remember the little wooden plaques that I used to make using prints of my artwork.  I’ve been experimenting  recently with larger versions, including adding hand-embellishments in paint before sealing with several coats of polyurethane.

Greenman Cat Limited Ed Plaque

These Limited Edition plaques are ONLY available in-person at festivals & events OR online through my Patreon channel for subscribers of $1+ per month(Pledges of $5, $10, or more will earn discounts towards any art purchases, including original paintings and plaques!)  I am making 25 plaques per size and design, and I gotta say, the Greenman Cat plaques (pictured above) were a huge hit at the Faerie Fest! :)

If you are unable to visit me in person, or support me on Patreon, don’t worry! I will soon be offering open-edition plaques as well.  These will be smaller and not hand-embellished, but they will still be just as beautiful as the larger plaques, and will come with a mini wood easel and hanger for displaying on a shelf or wall.  The Limited Edition plaques have eye-screws and wire for hanging.

New Artwork – “Arsenic and Old Lace” and “Thumbelina”

In addition to the plaques, I have two new original paintings to share!

I finished “Arsenic and Old Lace” in early May, and debuted it at the Flower & Jazz Festival in Westminster, MD.   It was inspired by the 1939 dark-comedy stage play, featuring two elderly spinster sisters (Abby and Martha Brewster) who entertain lonely gentlemen callers with poisoned elderberry wine, and then bury their bodies in the cellar.   This is one of my favorite plays, and I’ve actually starred in it twice – appearing as their nephew Mortimer Brewster’s fiancee, Elaine Harper (the minister’s daughter). :)

The original acrylic painting on wrapped canvas, measuring 11″x14″, was created in neutral shades of umber (with touches of black, white, sienna, and yellow) to mimic a vintage Victorian-era photograph.   “Arsenic and Old Lace” is currently on display (and for sale) at the Ice House Co-Op Gallery in Berkeley Springs, WV.   I do have archival reproduction prints available here in my online shop.

My most recent piece, which debuted at the Maryland Faerie Festival, is “Thumbelina” – an 8″x10″ acrylic painting on gallery-wrapped canvas.

This painting is currently available for $400, with first dibs being given to my Patreon subscribers… who, for pledges of $5-$10 per month, receive 10%-20% off deals on any paintings.  It will be on display at my farmer’s market booth this Saturday, and if it is still available after this weekend, I will be listing it in the Original Paintings section of my website store on Monday. :)

Archival reproduction prints and acrylic magnets of “Thumbelina” are available here in my shop.

After this weekend, my next scheduled appearance at the Carroll County Farmer’s Market is July 7th – themed “Christmas in July”.  I will be working on my Scrooge painting from last year ~ better late than never! Haha!

The remainder of July, I will be in my studio, creating a new series of 5″x7″ paintings for the annual local charity auction, “Art For the Animals”, held in October at Howards’ Arts & Frames.   I won’t be at the market again until August 4th, but follow me on Patreon, Instagram, and Facebook to see what I’m working on!

Thank you and meow!
